Reed Ponds Bank Revetment: Photos

Here are some pictures of the work done at The Reed Ponds by the Environment Agency back in March.  Following tree removal, necessary to allow access for the heavy machinery used by the EA, the bank has was piled and boarded along it's length and the piles were tied in with cables which have been buried.  The revetments have been backfilled with silt taken from the back pond.  An £800 grant was receibed from the EA and this provided over 1500 plants which have been planted between the 6 new swims (please keep off these planted areas and fish from the swims only).  The plany have been carefully selected to improve biodiversiy at the site.   Ssee below for some pictures of the progress:

  The next work Party will take place at the Reed Ponds on Saturday 25th August March where we will be repairing the undercut swims on the car-park bank.  Please feel free to come along and lend a hand from 9 a.m. to midday.
